Biography

Shawn Thierry is a 1991 graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC, where she obtained a B.A. in Broadcast Management, with a minor in Business Administration. She received a Juris Doctorate degree from Thurgood Marshall School Of Law in Houston, Texas in 1996, and that same year, she was admitted to the Texas State Bar. She also clerked for the Houston Court of Appeals First District and upon graduation immediately joined the civil litigation section of a renowned Texas commercial defense firm. She participated as defense counsel on high-profile First Amendment cases, various commercial disputes, and has also practiced in the area of energy and regulatory law.

In 2002, Shawn was inspired to start her own practice devoted to the representation of persons injured by the wrongful acts of others.  As a sole practitioner, the focus of her practice is representing victims of auto and trucking negligence cases, premises liability injuries, as well as other general tort and civil litigation matters.

Ms. Thierry is an active member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. She is a member of the TTLA Board of Directors, has served as a Trustee for the PAC Board, he Membership Committee, and as Chair of Retention for the Diversity Committee. Other professional associations include the: Houston Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Bar Association, American Association for Justice, and Howard University Alumni Association, where she served on the Executive Committee and Chair of Membership for the local chapter.

Her community activities include serving on as chair of the Advisory Board and Annual for Pro-Vision School for Boys, volunteering as a mentor to girls at Westbury High School, and sponsoring a little league baseball team in Katy, Texas. Her leisure time is most enjoyed with family, especially six-year old nephew, Noah, and three-year old niece, Shelby.
